Andy Stott – Faith in Strangers

Never one to be placed in a stylistic pigeon hole, electronic master Andy Stott returns with his incoming album’s title track ‘Faith in Strangers’. Known for his broody, bass-fuelled and dubby creations, the Mancunian creates dense, emotional music that people never really know how to dance to. Stott’s music has always exuded an effortless funkiness, a kind of deeply ingrained  ability to move you from the pit of your stomach – have a listen to 2012’s mindblowing LP  ‘Luxury Problems’ for an example of Stott at his powerful, seismic best.

‘Faith in Strangers’ is something of a surprise. Bright, sad chords and a melancholy vocal work themselves around a woozy, infectious bassline. It’s a sorrowful eulogy to an inevitable, accepted loneliness; and a peaceful look at loves of the past. ‘Faith in Strangers’ is released November 17th through Modern Love. Check it out:
