The icon is famed for his ominous, futuristic pairings of sound and vision that have provided some of the most lingering film atmospheres of the past 40 years. ‘Vortex’ is no exception. A sultry aesthetic that oozes his 1986 classic ‘Big Trouble in Little China’ is paired with a brash attitude and sharp production. Carpenter, at the grand old age of 66, is weighing in with what looks like an essential album. Ultra moody, and ultra cool.
